앨범을 들으면 핑크 플로이드의 앨범들을 주로 누가 만들어왔는지 알 수 있게 된다. 절규하는 스타일의 보컬도 매우 좋고, 더 반가운 점은 에릭 클랩튼이 이 앨범에서 기타를 연주해주고 있다는 점이다. 첨엔 데이빗 길머가 치는 줄 알았으나, 자세히 들어보니 소리가 좀더 맑고 영롱하게 느껴진다.

여든을 바라보는 나이인데, 아직도 포효하는 목소리다. 데이빗 길모어가 기타를 쳤으면 전성기 핑크 플로이드의 분위기에 더 가까웠을 거 같은데 아깝다. 할아버지는 1차대전때, 아버지는 2차대전때 사망했다고 한다. 이런 가족의 한이 핑크 플로이드 음악의 근간을 이루는 듯 하다.

 

My grandfather was killed in 1916 and my father was killed down the road in Anzio.

 

Eric Fletcher Waters was serving as a second lieutenant with the Royal Fusiliers as they advanced through Italy in 1944 when he was killed in action. His newborn son Roger was aged just five months when he was killed on the battlefield near Cassino.
